San Salvador, April 22, 2024.- In her first visit to the country as CABEI Executive President, Ms. Gisela Sánchez Maroto met with the President of the Republic of El Salvador, Mr. Nayib Bukele, to discuss various issues.

The work agenda also included a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Jerson Posada, a meeting with the CABEI office team in El Salvador and a visit to two projects financed by the Bank: the Mágico González Stadium and the National Gymnasium, which are part of the Infrastructure Construction and Sports Venues Rescue Program (PRODEPORTE), and which recently hosted the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games. Sánchez was accompanied by CABEI Director for El Salvador, Mr. Alejandro Zelaya, Public Sector Manager, Mr. Manuel Torres, and the country representative, Raúl Castaneda.

During her stay, CABEI's Executive President reaffirmed that one of the Bank's objectives is to strengthen its commitment to each of its member countries by learning about the challenges and opportunities they face, as well as the development achieved with the projects we support.

Last week an increase of US$150 million was approved for the Line of Credit of the Road Conservation Fund (FOVIAL), whose resources will allow the improvement of the country's road infrastructure for the benefit of Salvadorans.

CABEI's current project portfolio in El Salvador includes programs and projects in areas such as road, social, and productive infrastructure, energy, education, financial intermediation, water and sanitation, environment, and housing, among others.
