More than 200 Latin American MSMEs nominated for the CABEI-Solidario Awards

The initiative is supported by the multilateral through its Social Support Foundation (FAS) and the award ceremony is expected to take place in December 2022.

Santo Domingo, November 16th, 2022 - The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the CABEI-SOLIDARIOS network are holding the second edition of the CABEI-SOLIDARIOS Awards, for which a total of 242 nominations have already been received. Solidarity Council of American Development Foundations are holding the second edition of the CABEI-SOLIDARIOS Awards for which a total of 242 nominations have already been received.

From these entrepreneurs and clients of member institutions of the microfinance network in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, Belize, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela, a process of evaluation and qualification of the projects will be carried out in accordance with the program's guidelines, and the winners will be selected and announced in December.

"In addition to being one of the sectors that generates the greatest social and economic impact in Latin America, MSMEs are also the main generator of jobs and income, especially in rural communities. For this reason, we consider it vitally important to support business innovation and back their capacities," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

Mossi also noted that the CABEI Microenterprise Solidarity Program is supported by CABEI, which, through its Board of Directors, recently approved a US$100,000 grant through its Social Support Foundation (FAS).

This second edition of the contest included training for the participants and personalized counseling for the winners, seeking to improve their ability to efficiently manage their businesses.
