CABEI approves US$725,000 to support the development of the agricultural product supply chain in El Salvador
With support from CABEI, the Government of El Salvador will be able to acquire approximately 30 units to transport products from supply centers to agricultural markets and points of sale.
San Salvador, October 24, 2024. With the aim of boosting the local economy and offering quality agricultural products to the Salvadoran population, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved a non-reimbursable financial cooperation, for an amount of US$725,000.00, which seeks to strengthen the supply chain of national products to facilitate their commercialization.
Through this project, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of El Salvador (MAG), a logistics network will be developed to supply agricultural products from the plots of producing families to agricultural markets and other points of sale nationwide.
With the resources granted by CABEI, a fleet of vehicles of about 30 units will be made available, which will allow the transport of products in a more agile, efficient, safe, and direct manner, reducing losses from post-harvest handling and intermediaries. This will guarantee the timely arrival of the products, maintaining their freshness and quality, since the risk of deterioration is reduced, positively impacting the competitiveness of national products in the market.
By facilitating distribution and reducing logistics costs, products can be purchased by Salvadoran families at affordable prices, benefiting the family economy and allowing them to access fresh, quality products.
With this non-reimbursable financial cooperation, CABEI reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of El Salvador, contributing to the revitalization of local economies and investing in the well-being of the population.
