With the approval of US$250.3 million, construction of more than 3,000 homes incorporating sustainability criteria is expected to be completed.

Madrid, March 28th, 2023. — For the benefit of more than 10,000 people living in conditions of vulnerability and extreme poverty, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved US$250.3 million, of which US$300,000 came from a grant under the non-reimbursable financial cooperation modality through the Social Support Foundation Fund (FAS), for the execution of the "Eco-Housing Program in the Dominican Republic" at the national level.

The operation consists of the construction of more than 3,300 housing structures, using recyclable materials, which will cover clean water, sanitary and storm sewerage, sewage treatment and subsoil protection services, with a focus on sustainable development and environmental protection, improving the quality of the environment and access to basic services and infrastructure.

"Guaranteeing access to decent housing is fundamental to improving the social conditions of families in our region. CABEI is pleased to contribute to the development of sustainable housing solutions, which will also help boost the economy and generate jobs," said CABEI Executive President Dr. Dante Mossi.

The initiative also proposes a change in the lives of the beneficiaries through the design and development of training processes focused on topics such as coexistence, entrepreneurship, technical training, among others, contributing to improving the quality of life of the program's beneficiaries. These community training processes will be financed under the non-reimbursable financial cooperation modality with resources from CABEI's Social Support Foundation Fund (FAS).
