Panama City, November 14, 2025.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) made the final disbursement of US$16.2 million for the Las Playas Corridor Project, marking the financial completion of one of the country's most emblematic road projects.
With a total investment of US$140 million, financed by a multilateral institution, the project included the construction of a 1.72-kilometer viaduct and the rehabilitation of 4.42 kilometers of road, spanning from the La Espiga sector in La Chorrera to Hacienda Los Calderones. The viaduct was inaugurated in September 2024, and today this modern infrastructure benefits more than 4 million Panamanians, improving connectivity between the capital city and the interior provinces, optimizing travel times, and reducing vehicle operating costs.
The Las Playas Corridor has significantly boosted the country's economic, tourist, and logistical dynamism, strengthening the growth of the province of Panama Oeste, one of the areas with the most recent urban development.
Throughout the process, CABEI provided technical and financial support for the project's execution, consolidating its role as a strategic ally for sustainable development in Panama and as a driver of positive transformation in the countries it serves.
With this latest disbursement, the Bank concludes its participation in a project that is transforming the mobility and lives of thousands of Panamanians, leaving a legacy of road safety, connectivity, and sustainable development.
